We'll meet next via Zoom on Wednesday, March 4th, 2025 to discuss The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon.

A midwife living in Maine in 1789 is asked to investigate the cause of death of a man found frozen in a local river. This murder mystery is a work of fiction using an actual midwife’s 30 year diary for inspiration. 


The author discusses the much wider role of midwives as medical professionals in the 18th century on NPR:
