Step into the heart of Chicago’s enchanting artist’s colony with this exclusive tour inside the Fine Arts Building. Nestled in the vibrant cultural landscape of downtown Chicago, this architectural gem has stood as a testament to creativity and craftsmanship since its inception in 1898.
As you traverse the ornate corridors, walk up and down the grand staircase and ride some of the last manually operated elevators in the city, you’ll be transported back in time to an era when the arts flourished.
The Fine Arts Building, originally built in 1893, housed the Studebaker Carriage Company’s showroom and factory. This guided tour will unravel the stories embedded in the building’s exquisite architecture, highlighting its role in fostering creativity. Explore the studios that once hosted influential artists, musicians, and writers, immersing yourself in the same spaces that inspired the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright, Lorado Taft, and Sherwood Anderson.
Every corner of the Fine Arts Building whispers tales of the creative and enduring spirit of Chicago’s artistic heritage. Designed by Solon S. Beman, the architect behind the Pullman Palace Car Company, the building served as a hub for Chicago’s burgeoning arts scene in the late 19th century. Now, 125 years later, it continues to play the same pivotal role, preserving the old and perpetuating a new and exciting artistic colony within its historic walls.

Location: Fine Arts Building, 410 S. Michigan Avenue, Suite 424, Chicago, IL 60605. Fine Arts building Between Congress Parkway & Van Buren Streets.
The tour will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Please plan to arrive no later than 9:45 a.m.

Payment In Full In Advance Only
The fee for this event is $35 and must be paid upon registration. If you cancel before the deadline of Friday, May 2nd, the fee will be refunded to your account. However, if you cancel after the cancellation deadline, or fail to attend the event without cancelling for any reason, the fee will be forfeited and WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
If you need to cancel, please cancel as early as possible so that someone on the waitlist can join. You must be logged in to register.
There is a 4 hour time limit when you are notified a space has opened up on the waitlist.
Registration cancellations will be accepted until Friday, May 2, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Cancellation Policy:
If you are a member and cancel your registration before the specified deadline, you will receive a full refund as a credit to your account. You can use the credit to pay for another event or put it toward your annual dues payment.
