Inspiring Women – Julia Gillard
Julia Gillard (born in 1960) was the first and only woman Prime Minister of Australia. Her time as Prime Minister was not particularly eventful, and she might have escaped international attention but for her 2010 speech to the Australian parliament on the subject of misogyny. Many lists of the greatest speeches by women of all time include Gillard’s address. In this session, we’ll listen to her 15-minute speech and then discuss why it is so remarkable and compelling.

Our Presenter: Jan Blustein
Jan Blustein is a member of the New York City Chapter. She was a Professor of Health Policy and Medicine at New York University, where she did research on the health and well-being of older people.
In her retirement she enjoys reading, gardening and working out.
