Art Appreciation

General Information

The purpose of this group is to connect women who enjoy viewing, discussing, and learning about art. Each month we explore one aspect of art: an element of art, a particular art medium, an art movement, a specific artist, or an exhibit. Our focus is on increasing our knowledge of art.

If you are interested in participating or want to be on our contact list, 1) add yourself to the contact group or 2) Contact Patty Petersen using the Member Directory. If not a member, please contact us.

New members are always welcome! The group meets the second Wednesday of each month.

Event Information

Monday, September 8, 2025, at 2 p.m. (this is a new day and time - just in September)

Photographer Debra Fisher Goldstein, the newest member of our Art Appreciation group, has invited us to Homewood Photo Collective (HPC) Annual Photography Show at Homewood Studios. The theme for the show is Persistence of Vision.

Debra is a member of HPC. She will show us around, and other members, including Jack Mader, HPC leader, photographer and former photography instructor at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, will be on hand. We’ll view the gallery, ask questions and mingle. Here’s a sample of the participants’ work: https://hpc.photos (the works in the show will be different).

We’ll meet at 1:45 p.m. at Homewood Studios, 2400 Plymouth Ave N., Minneapolis. There is street parking. If you need a ride or want to carpool, contact Patty Petersen.

October, etc.

I hope you have some creative ideas for the coming year. Any artsy idea is welcome! Let me know which month you’d like to lead the discussion for our group. It can be in person or on Zoom.

October 8 (We move back to our regular meeting day and time: 1-2:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month.)
