I hope you can join us May 14 when photographer Paul Stapp will show us digital images of his photographs and give a presentation on the historic trends of Fine Art photography and how it inspires his work.
RSVP to Women’s Connection member Patty Petersen if you are able to attend.
We’ll meet at the Roseville Public Library from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
“Photography has been my passion since the age of 10,” Paul said. “For years I’ve been seeking out and photographing the things overlooked by most people to create complex compositions of unassuming subjects.
“My early interests led me to the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA Photography, 1979). My artistic sensibility has always been greatly influenced by painting and architecture, so eventually I went back to study more rigorously at the University of Chicago (MA Art History, 1990).
“I have worked in all the usual formats, starting with 35mm film, then moving to medium format, and then several years with a 4x5 camera. During a period when I had small children, I took a hiatus from photography, eventually returning to the digital realm.”
JUNE, JULY, AUGUST
The Art Appreciation SIG will not meet formally during the summer, but if you want to propose an outing to a gallery or know of other fun art events, please let Patty Petersen know. You can look her up in the Member Directory.
