Pod Squad

General Information

We welcome new members! This is great group to meet new women and you only have to attend the meetings that interest you. We meet from September-May. Each month will feature a new podcast. We ask members to listen to the podcast selected prior to the meeting on your own time. Then sign on to Zoom for a lively discussion promptly at 1:00 PM on the third Monday of each month. Let us know if you have recommendations on a podcast for future meetings.

If you are interested in participating or want to be on our contact list, 1) add yourself to the contact group or 2) Contact Jane Harens or Linda Grant using the Member Directory. If not a Member, please contact us with any questions you may have.

Event Information

In April, women got together to talk about conversation. Linda selected a podcast from She Said/She Said with Alison Wood Brooks, a Harvard Business School professor, on her new book, TALK The Science Of Conversation And The Art Of Being Ourselves which delves into the complexities of human interaction, offering insights into how even minor adjustments in our conversational habits can significantly enhance both personal and professional relationships.

She Said/She Said website (includes key topics & transcript): https://shesaidshesaidpodcast.com/episodes/316-unlocking-the-secrets-to-better-conversations-with-hbs-professor-alison-wood-brooks/

In case you are wondering, TALK is an acronym for

Topic - think about what you want to talk about in advance
Asking - ask more and better questions
Levity - Think warmth or lightness, not being funny
Kindness - entering conversation as different people - as your friend, as your teacher, etc

Chris DiPietro has volunteered to lead the May meeting (thanks, Chris), and has selected an NPR podcast titled "Arguing for the good in bad English." You can find that podcast at the link below.

This group takes the summer (June, July, August) off.

We are keeping a list of podcasts we have listened to previously. The Chicago chapter is starting a podcast group in January 2025 and is adding their selections to our list. You can view the list at this link.

Please be thinking of interesting and/or informative podcasts to share with the group!
Contact Jane Harens or Linda Grant with any questions.
